We have been doing this for a while now (5 years!) and we want to share a couple of the things that are most important to us at Future Stars Futbol. We have been incredibly lucky to have a great group of loyal families and teams to keep growing with us, and our amazing coaches have helped with that.
As we enter the last month of the winter season and prepare for the spring, we are so excited to about the work our players are doing with our great staff of coaches. Even though to some the winter season is considered secondary t8 the outdoor fall and winter, we find that futsal (traditionally the name for the indoor game, in a small space with a smaller ball) is incredibly significant to player development, perhaps the most fundamental way of learning how to control the ball. In other futbol cultures and countries, futsal is the measure of player skill and playing on a full size field is something that waits until players and teams are much older and mature in their understanding of the game. The winter is also a great time to focus even more on individual player development during our 2x weekly 2 hour training sessions. Without the weekly game schedule, we work on technical skills and build for an even better outdoor season ahead.
Already we are thinking about the summer! This year, in accordance with our focus on specialized goalie training, we will be hosting a goalie clinic July 5-8 at tillary and flatbush. The format will be 2 hours of goalie training 9-11am, with a quick snack/lunch break and then field training until 1pm. It’s a perfect schedule for experienced goalies and even those just interested in learning more about the position. The players learn from each other as well as from our excellent trainer Mauricio, who played professionally in Colombia!In addition we will hold our usual outstanding soccer clinics for all ages and skill levels, which focus on individual skills, field dynamics and fun team building excercises. The players never want to leave the field! We offer an optional extended day chess program for those who are interested, and by the time the kids get home they are both exhausted and excited for the next day.
